Esra Dogramaci is Senior Editor for Digital at German public broadcaster Deutsche Welle (DW). She has significant experience in digital transformation across news and current affairs. In less than a year since joining, Esra was responsible for leading the most successful digital initiative at DW, which by partnering with Twitter broadcast the German election results and coverage, breaking all previous digital records at DW. She has also driven the use of Crowdtangle in the organisation, and in the process DW has become the 2nd biggest of 158 users in Germany and in the top 20-30 of 6000 partners worldwide.
Before joining DW, Esra was the BBC's first digital consultant working across a variety of presences including the flagship news and current affairs show Newsnight, HardTalk, and the Travel Show, as well as projects with the Arabic and Turkish services. She also led the World Service's YouTube team across 20 languages with results stretching to 550% growth in one year and gaining a nomination for best digital team at the British Media Awards in 2016.
Esra also worked for Al Jazeera in Qatar and Turkey where she was part of the award winning team for coverage of the Arab Spring, and prior to that at UN headquarters and UNICEF, working in communications/new media throughout. She's also a former full time athlete, having represented Australia in Ice Hockey.
