Biography
Ria began working on The Economist’s Instagram account in 2015 and it has since become the publication’s most engaging social platform, hitting 2 million followers this year. Her main challenges have been to cultivate a thriving audience of “globally curious” people and sustain steady growth on the platform. Ria uses her picture-editing background to promote visual storytelling across editorial teams. She curates content for Instagram’s various formats, including Stories, Live and IGTV. Ria also works with correspondents to showcase the breadth of their journalism using photos and videos taken whilst reporting.
