Biography
Linda Shaw is Editorial Director at the Solutions Journalism Network, which works to increase in-depth reporting on responses to social problems to complement and strengthen coverage on the problems themselves. She runs SJN's Renewing Democracy initiative and SJN's efforts to expand and improve the support it offers to its growing network of newsrooms.
Before SJN, Linda worked at The Seattle Times, where she oversaw Education Lab, an initiative that rigorously examines promising approaches to education’s toughest problems. Linda has worked as a reporter and an editor, mostly at The Seattle Times and mostly on coverage of public schools. In 2008, she was named best reporter of the year for large newspapers by the Education Writers Association and in 2011-12, she was a Spencer Education fellow at Columbia University. In 2016, she helped create a multimedia project on race called “Under Our Skin.”
