Biography
Vera Penêda leads the Events & Training team at the European Journalism Centre in Maastricht since April 2019. Vera and her team are responsible for organising events, training and fellowships to bring together international media experts and local news communities. These initiatives focus on new technology, tools and methods that are reshaping the way journalists and newsrooms cover the news.
Vera is a multimedia journalist. Previously she was Training Coordinator with the Institute for War and Peace Reporting where she trained independent journalists from countries with oppressive regimes. Vera has worked in online, print and broadcast journalism, social media and public information in Latin America, Asia and Europe. She recently moved to Maastricht after five years in Mexico and six years in China.
