Biography

Esra Doğramacı is a digital strategist and editor with significant experience in digital transformation across news and current affairs. She was most recently at DW as senior editor for digital, where by partnering with Twitter to broadcast the 2017 German election results, broke all digital records at the broadcaster. She was also BBC’s first digital consultant working across a variety of presences including the flagship news and current affairs shows Newsnight, HardTalk, and the Travel Show, as well as projects with the Arabic and Turkish services. She led the World Service’s YouTube team across 20 languages with results stretching to 550% watch time growth in one year and gaining a nomination for best digital team at the British Media Awards in 2016.

Esra has also worked for Al Jazeera in Qatar and Turkey where she was part of the award winning team for coverage of the 'Arab Spring', and prior to that at UN headquarters and UNICEF, working in communications/new media throughout. She’s also a former full time athlete, having represented Australia in Ice Hockey.
