Journalist & Documentary Film Maker

I was born in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on November 10, 1983. I moved to Belgium several years ago. I studied Arabic Studies and Economics at the KULeuven (Catholic University of Leuven). After my graduation I started working at the television newsroom of the Belgian Public Broadcast (VRT) as a researcher, a journalist and a documentary filmmaker. I did several investigative news stories on the conflict in the Middle East and the refugee crisis in Europe. I am also responsible for the verification of a lot of the user-generated and social media content that makes its way on to VRT outlets across TV, digital and radio. Several investigative topics were based on information gathered and verified from the user-generated and social media content. "Belgian fighters in Syria and Iraq" and "the business of refugee smuggling" are only two examples of these topics. I have made three long documentaries for the Belgian viewers.
